A Rare Piece of Albert Pike Ephemera – A Sales Flyer for “A Beautiful Volume of Poems”
By Albert Pike
This is a most unique and rare piece of Albert Pike Ephemera. A well aged golden hued sales flyer for a book entitled: “A Beautiful Volume of Poems,” published posthumously by his daughter. On the back side of the leaf is a long poem which presumably bears the title, “Every Year.” Visibly it is in remarkably good shape, though the paper is well worn and should be handled with care. This would look quite elegant as a framed piece. Gen. Albert Pike was a renowned Mason, and according to the sales bill he was, at the time of his death, “the most renowned Mason in the world.” Curated by his daughter, the actual book (not included) went through a few printings. Pike was a self taught attorney, self taught masonic scholar, Indian agent, civil war general, and serious poet.
